Alice Bravo may have illegally lobbied Miami-Dade on $50M airport contract
Former Miami-Dade Transportation and Public Works Director Alice Bravo was back at County Hall this month, visiting Commission Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz April 15 with a group of lobbyists who are pushing for a totally clean and “flawless” bidding process to be tossed out and started anew.
Was she just hanging out? Was she on a date with Ralph Garcia-Toledo, one of the three lobbyists who were there with her between 3:20 and 3:30 or so, on the day after Valentine’s Day?
Miami Beach Public Works director will be new Miami-Dade WASA head
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department has a new director, and it’s another refugee from Miami Beach government.
Former Miami Beach Public Works Director Roy Coley was appointed as the new WASA director Tuesday by Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava — but everyone believes he was brought in by former Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales, now the county Chief Operations Officer.

Last day to vote in two heated Coral Gables commission runoff races
After all that hand-wringing and sweating over the Coral Gables commission election, much fewer voters will actually have made the decision when it comes Tuesday.
Already there are more than 2,500 fewer voters between vote-by-mail ballots and early voting than there was for the first round April 13.
Miami-Dade airport contract stalls as politicians meddle in procurement
Here we go again.
After almost a year, an award for construction supervision at Miami International Airport was stalled last week after the mayor’s office said it needed more time to review a bid protest from the company that was not chosen.
Joe Arriola sues Javier Baños and Marc Sarnoff over ‘lies’ in PAC attack mailer
Developing story: Former Miami City Manager Joe Arriola has filed a lawsuit against one of the commission candidates in the Coral Gables election over a mailer that told voters he had been fired from the Magic City for taking bribes.
The lawsuit names Javier Baños, candidate in Group 3, and former Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff — who donated to the political action committee that paid for the negative piece — as plaintiffs.
Endorsements fly in Coral Gables runoff election, as VBM ballots arrive
The endorsements are multiplying in the Coral Gables election, which ends next Tuesday. And just in time, too — as the vote-by-mail or absentee ballots are mailed to voters.
Three Group 2 candidates who didn’t make the runoff in the April 13 vote, Tania Cruz-Gimenez, Alexander Luis Haq and Claudia Miro, each endorsed Rhonda Anderson at a press conference in front of City Hall Tuesday. She already had the endorsement of the Miami Herald.
Negative mailers work as South Miami elects Brian Corey over two others
Voters in South Miami elected Brian Corey to serve out former Commissioner Bob Welsh‘s term after Welsh died in January. Corey beat out two other candidates: Mary Ann Ruiz and Zach Mann.
Guess those negative mailers worked.
